Nixer PD Dante

The RP64 Series are digital routers for use in a Dante™ or Ravenna AoIP network. The 64 x 64 matrix allows free routing of any audio input channel to any output, all selections being made via a simple and elegant, swipeable touchscreen display. Available with or without internal DSP (EQ and dynamics), and also without the touchscreen for situations where remote control is preferred.

 [Main feature set:]

  • 64 x 64 switching matrix (at fs=48 kHz); any input can route to any output
  • Near-instantaneous switching
  • Memory function for recalling patch routing
  • Versions available for use with either Dante™ or Ravenna AoIP networks
  • AES67 compatible
  • ST-2110 compatible (Dante™ versions require Dante Domain Manager)
  • Simple and intuitive operation
  • Large colour touchscreen display with swipe gesturing (RP64 and RP64 EQ only)
  • Dual network ports for use with redundant networks
  • OSC control port
  • Separate control port for optional hardware remote control units
  • Powered by PoE and/or external DC PSU
  • Compact 1U rack-mounting unit, suitable for use in OB vehicles and mobile or touring systems

Model RP64 EQ only:

  • 3-band EQ on all inputs
  • Limiter on all inputs
  • Output level control (post EQ/limiter)
  • AES3 I/O
  • Stereo analogue line output
  • Also available for dedicated remote control installations as Model RP64 CV2 (no touchscreen)

The Nixer RS32 is a programmable AoIP switch for DanteTM or Ravenna networks. It comprises 32 switches which are independently configurable as either one input into two outputs or two inputs into one output.

Description

The Nixer RP64 is a 64 x 64 audio routing matrix for use in a DanteTM or Ravenna AoIP network. It performs the functions of a “digital patch panel” allowing each input to be routed to any output. The choice of DanteTM or Ravenna compatibility is made at time of order.  Both units are AES67 and SMPTE ST-2110 compliant (Dante Domain Manager is required for use on Dante™ networks).

The RP64 is designed for use in large-scale fixed installations, live sound events and OB or studio broadcast applications, where rapid re-routing of audio channels may be necessary without any audible interruption to the programme material. Because the RP64 is a dedicated hardware unit, there is no necessity for any external computer or control software.

Two rear panel gigabit Ethernet ports (1 Gb/s or 100 Mb/s) allow connection to the AoIP network, either in a redundant (primary/secondary), or a switched arrangement. Sample rates supported are 44.1, 48, 88.2 and 96 kHz, at bit depths of 16, 24 or 32 bits. At 88.2 and

96 kHz, the matrix size is reduced to 32 x 32.

All unit control is made through the large (1440 x 240 pixel), swipeable, full colour touchscreen. 32 inputs are displayed at a time; control and configuration are simple and intuitive. Additionally, the display shows input channel signal level and, in the case of Dante™ units, the channel name assigned by the network system controller. The touchscreen also gives access to memory and system functions.

RP64 units may be powered via the PoE-enabled primary port (Power over Ethernet), allowing the unit to be powered from a suitable network switch. A DC input is also provided on a 2.5 mm jack for connection to an external 24 V DC PSU for fail-safe operation.

RP64 units may be remotely controlled using OSC protocol via a dedicated rear panel port. A second, proprietary port allows the connection of optional hardware remotes. It is very compact, being a 1U rack-mounting unit requiring only 120 mm of depth; this permits easy mounting in desks or other furniture. The rack ears are also removable.

The RP64 EQ is a variant of the RP64; it offers all the functionality of the RP64, but with the addition of a DSP section which provides independent limiting, and 3-band EQ with parametric mid and shelving hi- and lo- filters on every input. It also has an AES3 digital input and output and a stereo balanced line output (0 dBFS = +21 dBu): this additional I/O is available as further input and output channels on the matrix, which can be patched in exactly the same manner as the AoIP channels. The RP64 EQ also provides control of level for each input (post EQ and limiter).

The RP64 CV2 is a version of the RP64 EQ without a touchscreen, and is available to special order. The front panel is blank, and the unit is intended for installation in an MCR rack (typically), all control being effected remotely from an operator position.
