DirectOut Double-decker PRODIGY and MAVEN Networked-Audio Interfaces
DirectOut’s introduction of dual-format networked-audio interfaces has, in one simple step, doubled the networked-audio capability of its complete range of PRODIGY and MAVEN converters, routers and processors.
The flexibility and adaptability delivered by PRODIGY and MAVEN modularity, each supported by a host of resilience features and A-grade reliability, has seen these devices become ubiquitous components across broadcast, touring, festival, theatre and installed audio systems.
The ten new dual-format audio interfaces will each host two of DirectOut’s own mPCIe networked-audio or the Audinate Brooklyn 3 Dante modules. The two modules allow any paired combination of Dante, Ravenna/AES67, Milan or Soundgrid networked-audio formats via one PRODIGY or MAVEN SlotA interface. A total of 128chs for each interface.
In particular, the DANTE.DANTE.SRC.IO variant of the new interface enables a 128ch DANTE connection via a single PRODIGY or MAVEN SlotA, removing the 64ch upper limit of the standard DANTE interface.
Similarly, the RAV.RAV interface doubles the Ravenna/AES67/ST2110-30 stream capacity, particularly valuable in the many broadcast production systems that must deploy high quantities of low channel-count streams.
All the new interfaces host DirectOut’s switchable HD-SRC sample-rate decoupling for the simplest and highest quality asynchronous connections between two or more audio networks and the base sample-rate of the host device’s routing and processing.
This extended adaptability enables the single-SlotA equipped MAVEN and PRODIGY.MC to interconnect two networked-audio formats; the PRODIGY.MP up to four and the six-SlotA equipped MX up to 12 separate and/or asynchronous networks.
The PRODIGY and MAVEN units can each deliver a range of capabilities including simple format conversion, HD-SRC, routing and high-quality production processing. These processes include mix-matrixing, IIR and FIR filters, dynamics and delays.
The range is also multi-lingual on the control front being able to integrate with Ember+ and OSC control systems or, increasingly common, with systems that host DirectOut’s own JSON drivers.
DirectOut expect the first units from Production at the beginning of Q3 2025.
