But first…
A Quick Goodbye
Life is full of signs. And many of these we can safely ignore. But when those signs begin to carry a common message, perhaps it’s time to take action.
For me, as the owner and director of Aspen Media, recent signs have included:
· A fast-approaching significant birthday, which doesn’t include a 4, a 5 or a 6
· A 3-year-old granddaughter that has graduated from calling me ‘Andad and is seriously excited about becoming a Big Sister next month
· A guitar badly in need of more attention if its owner is to have any chance of passing his O-level Rock God
· A growing list of things to do, before its toooo late
So, I have decided that we should call Time! on Aspen Media.
From the end of this month Aspen Media will cease to trade as the UK distributor for DirectOut Technologies and Stagetec.
And I shall retire.
It’s truly difficult to sum-up the 31 years of Aspen Media, not least because I have a well-rounded aversion to cliches.
As you’d expect there have been some real achievements, especially for an organisation that’s remained resolutely small (and beautifully formed?), but challenges too, a lot of laughs, some wonderful people to work with – colleagues, customers and users; and a sense that we probably did okay for a company owned and allegedly run by the man who Knows Enough To Be Dangerous.
So, if you’re making the trip to MPTS, do please drop by and say GoodBye – and feel free to join the many that will, as some Australian friends do when dropping family off at Departures, shout “And Don’t Come Back!!”.
