PLASA 24 Grand Hall Olympia – Aspen Media Stand A2

Making its UK debut at Plasa 24, the DirectOut MAVEN.A, with new processing modularity, offers unrivalled adaptability and flexibility.

MAVEN.A is the latest addition to DirectOut’s highly adaptable routers, converters and processors, adding “soft” processing and control modules to the comprehensive selection of hardware interfaces it shares with the successful PRODIGY range.

Trialled in the PRODIGY range, MAVEN.A puts the new soft modularity centre-stage allowing system designers and operators to accurately specify both the input and output interfaces and the processing needed to fulfil the requirements of the tour, system or application.

Aimed squarely at those tasks that don’t require the scale and extended adaptability of PRODIGY, MAVEN.A nonetheless delivers two 64ch SFP MADI ports, one 256 channel network and multi-MADI slot and two 8ch converter slots for analogue/AES3 inputs and/or outputs.

The DirectOut’s unrivalled selection of I/O modules includes MADI coax and LC fibre SFPs; Dante and Ravenna AoIP plus AVB Milan and Soundgrid Layer 2 networked audio protocols; the new USB.IO, dual and quad multi-port MADI; Mic, HD-Mic & Line analogue and AES3 I/O.

All the network protocol and multi-port MADI interfaces are also available with DirectOut’s reference quality HD-SRC to deliver sample-rate decoupling and bridging.

So, in total, that’s just 14,850 Input and Output combinations alone.

Aside from the hardware differences imposed by the more affordable 1U rack unit, the MAVEN.A will, nonetheless, deliver close to identical routing, conversion and processing capabilities to those of its PRODIGY siblings.

In line with the product structure of all three PRODIGY units, the MAVEN will be available in the familiar Essential variant. To this router/converter base the system designer has complete freedom to add the appropriate quantity of audio tools from DirectOut’s stock of production and performance friendly processing. For hire companies and other operators that always require the full-set of tools, an Unlimited variant includes all the current and future processing options and control add-ons.

Production units will be available in October, but Aspen Media is expecting imminent delivery of MAVEN.A samples, allowing those with an urgent need to know more to get hands-on with this potential game changer.
