DirectOut Goes Green with Ravenna 10-year
Celebratory EXBOX.RAV Limited Edition

DirectOut, in celebration of the 10-year anniversary of Ravenna Audio-over-IP, has introduced a limited-edition Ravenna-green version of its successful EXBOX.RAV MADI-to-Ravenna bridge and router.

The EXBOX.RAV employs DirectOut’s RAV2 mini-PCI module that is shared with the RAV.IO interface of the PRODIGY range and is available to third-party OEMs as a stand-alone module.

DirectOut’s Ravenna implementation has been deployed in many mission-critical roles in broadcast, its natural home:

  • Bridging baseband audio islands to IP router cores
  • Long-distance audio tie-lines – often for major sporting events
  • Remote Production audio hubs and processing
  • IP comms 4-wire interfacing

DirectOut’s RAV2 employed in the EXBOX.RAV not only supports all three AoIP standards: Ravenna, AES67 and ST2110-30 and -31; but also ST2022-7 network redundancy and NMOS device discovery (IS04) and connection management (IS05).

In keeping with the other EXBOX MADI-to-AoIP bridges for Dante and Soundgrid, EXBOX.RAV is equipped with three MADI ports with coaxial BNC, SC multimode fibre and SFP connections.

The EXBOX, a third-rackwidth 1U unit, adds:

  • Dual-PSU resilience
  • 256 x 256 router
  • FastSRC low-latency sample-rate conversion with automatic loss-of-sync protection
  • EARS playback and connection redundancy changeover that employs DirectOut’s BLDS stream error detection.
