Nixer Pro Audio presents the WL64-4 with iPad touch-monitoring at IBC 2023.

Stand: 8.9F3

The highlight of Nixer Pro Audio’s annual trip to IBC will be the launch of the WL64-4 audio monitor that delivers intuitive and portable touchscreen monitoring selection and listening from a wi-fi connected iPad.

The WL64-4, equipped for either Dante or Ravenna networked audio, connects simultaneously to four iPads hosting the Nixer Remote iPad® app. This pairing delivers, for each iPad, simple and independent selection of individual monitoring sources by a touch of an on-screen and instantly recognisable image: a presenter, game show contestant or reality TV participant’s face, the instrument of a solo musician or member of the band, the iconic image of a distant outside source location, or simply the name of the source in large, easy to read text.

The audio for each source is streamed to the iPad via its wi-fi connection, making the iPad a self-contained and portable monitoring station – using the iPad speakers or headphones.

The WL64-4 is equally able to provide monitoring of a mix of sources, allowing precise control over the level of each source in the monitor mix.

The selected or mixed monitoring signals for each iPad are also available as sources on the audio network, which allows each monitoring selection to be shared to dedicated monitoring speakers, or other workstations in the system.

Each source selection image is supported by a system-wide or a locally created name, plus audio metering of its audio signal to aid both the accuracy of source selection or easy identification of sources that are over-level causing clipping distortion.

As Nick Fletcher, founder & CEO of Nixer Pro Audio confirmed “This solution makes it much easier and quicker to identify audio sources using pictures and text displayed on an iPad and, because up to four iPads can be simultaneously connected to a single WL64-4, it’s a cost-effective solution when it comes to monitoring and mixing sources during live events or reality TV shows, as well as audio logging for post-production package creation.”

The portability and simple touchscreen capability of the WL64-4 and the Nixer Remote app makes this pair a useful tool in a host of applications away from its natural habitat of broadcast and production.
