DirectOut PRODIGY.MX Multi-format Router Debuts at IBC2023

Whether you’re an audio router in broadcast, recording or live sound, the new PRODIGY.MX cross-format router fulfils real-world demands of operators, integrators and rental providers. The PRODIGY.MX interconnects systems and networks, perhaps running at different sample-rates, via a variety of baseband and IP/Ethernet audio formats. The multi-format, multi-sample-rate capability of the PRODIGY.MX will consequently guarantee happiness and contentment for many audio operators and systems designers, restoring DirectOut’s position as the router/converter of choice for a multitude of installed, mobile and transportable Broadcast, Event and Live-sound applications.

Utilising PRODIGY’s proven interfaces to MADI, Dante, Ravenna/AES67/ST2110-30, Soundgrid and AVB Milan, all optionally available with DirectOut’s premiere quality bi-directional HD-SRC, the MX delivers unprecedented flexibility and adaptability.

In addition to the PRODIGY’s standard dual MADI ports, the six .NET slots of the MX can each be equipped with a 64ch Dante; 128ch Ravenna, Soundgrid, AVB Milan & dual-MADI; or 256ch 4-way MADI interface – all of which are available with optional HD-SRC. Control is via three Ethernet ports – two RJ45 copper and one SFP cage for fibre optic connections, plus a 2-way GPIO port.

Available initially in the PRODIGY Essential router/converter guise, the 1664 x 1668 matrix of the MX is directly controlled using the free-to-use globcon software or integrated with 3rd party systems using the Ember+ or OSC protocols. However, DirectOut report an increasing number of 3rd parties are adopting DirectOut’s native JSON protocol to delivered unfettered control access to all PRODIGY functionalities.

Closely following the Essential router/converter launch at IBC, additional processing capabilities will be introduced for the PRODIGY.MX with the Advanced license release in the coming months.

This latest PRODIGY is stacked with the usual DirectOut resilience tools, including Mirror Mode to create an identically configured backup device; Input Managers to switch seamlessly to backup audio paths; dedicated ports for out-of-band control, dual-redundant PSUs, Sync Source Priority; not to mention the inherent dual network redundancy of Dante, Ravenna etc.
